Pine Hill Ski Club exists only and entirely thanks to volunteers. ALL the work of trail
maintenance, grooming, equipment care, operations management, website conditions posting
and editing, Robb’s Hut events, financial management, correspondence, support of school
winter activity x-c programs – ALL is done completely by volunteers!
We need YOU! You can pick out a way to contribute, large or small, that suits your talents and
time available. Pick out any small bit from the list below and contact PHSC using the Contact
Form here on the website, and someone who volunteers in that area will contact you with
some options that will allow you to help!
On the trails, in the fall:
Adopt-A-Trail – pick your favorite, walk it early fall and clear branches and cut back new
growth. Report fallen trees or potentially dangerous conditions
Signs – help place signs in needed places before ski season, and remove post season.
Trail Maintenance – ALL most welcome to show up on October Saturdays to help keep
trails open. Strong volunteers needed to place temporary pallets and plywood in wet
areas for grooming machine paths, under direction of trail maintenance coordinator.
Ski Season Needs, at PHSC:
Groomers – Get trained to drive the grooming machines. Two or three groomers go out
following storms, and as otherwise needed between storms, as scheduled by the head groomer.
Gate Keepers – Maintain a key to open and close the locked gate at the trailhead. On
days PHSC is open, Open at 9am, Close at 4pm Dec-Jan and 5pm Feb-Mar. Gate closers
check the parking lot to be sure no vehicles remain in the lots. Separate volunteers may
do open or closing duties, and may be scheduled for short intervals not the whole season!
Greeters – For holidays or busy weekends, be a greeter at the trailhead, answering
questions, helping collect trail fees, for 2-3 hours.
Frequent skier reporters – Those who ski virtually every day can really help the
groomers by texting reports on conditions and where work is needed, stockwellphotography2@gmaiI.com.
Robb’s Hut Hosts – Open the hut on weekends when conditions are good. Light
woodstove, greet skiers, offer hot cocoa, pancakes etc. Sign up for one day that works for you.
Photography – Submit any good photos of events, beautiful scenes, or skiing fun at PH
by emailing to email@example.com. Be sure people in photos are OK with PHSC’s use for PR.
Support for school programs – Help prepare equipment for school sessions each week.
Volunteer for PHSC from home:
Any one of these small jobs could be picked up – no need to do all in a category!
Board – PHSC has a 9 member Board of Directors which manages the operations of the
Club. Officers are president, vice-president, secretary and treasurer. Terms are 3 years.
Sign maintenance – Our wooden signs need maintenance off season – some painting and varnishing.
Public Relations: Help with press releases, ad copy, brochures, etc. Post on SkiNH and social media, etc.
Secretary/Treasurer support – Print season pass labels, day pass tickets, etc. Laminate
maps; fold maps. Be a back-up for posting conditions on website. Reply to contact emails.
When we needed to rebuild our bridge, the Sunapee snowmobile club volunteered to help us with their knowledge of bridge design building, and we are extremely grateful for their help. We call the bridge Many Hands bridge because of their volunteerism and help from Pine Hill volunteers as well.
